In a year, KPK receives 2,000 graft reports

JAKARTA: The Corruption Eradication Commission says it received 2,223 reports of alleged corruption cases between September 2009 and July 2010.

The commission received the reports through its Internet-based KPK Whistleblowers System, which first came online last year, commission deputy chairman Muhammad Jasin said in Jakarta on Tuesday.

As of July 9, the number of visitors to the site had reached 57,280, but only a few of these reports had been followed up, he said.

Jasin said the system, which was made to improve the supervision of public institutions, and guarantee confidentiality for whistleblowers. He urged the public to report alleged graft cases to the antigraft body through its website, www.kpk.go.id.
