President
Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono says that World Anticorruption Day on Dec. 9 will be
more than just a commemoration of the government’s stance against graft.
“As you all
know, it will not just be a commemoration event but will be about what we have
done up to this day in our efforts to prevent and eradicate corruption,” he
said in a speech at his office on Monday as quoted by tribunnews.com.
He said
that on World Anticorruption Day he and his Cabinet would evaluate their
anticorruption work, looking at the things that they have achieved and what
they would need to work on in the future.
The
commemoration, he said, would be held in Semarang, Central Java, where he felt
would be conducive to the day’s agenda.
“I want us
to have a hard and sharp discussion and reflect on our situation, which will
help us determine our moves for the future,” he said.
