Banjarmasin (ANTARA News) - Former vice president Jusuf Kalla hailed as positive a speech made by President Susulo Bambang Yudhoyono on the eve of the World Anti-Corruption Day on Tuesday night.

"The president`s speech was very positive and has to be supported," Kalla said on the sidelines of his scientific oration at the inauguration of graduates at the Kalimantan Islamic University in Banjarmasih on Wednesday.

Kalla made the statement in response to a reporter`s question on whether or not the president`s attitude and restlessness in the face of the anti-corruption rallies was too excessive.

The former vice president was reluctant to answer the question but said that the president`s address was very positive for combating corruption.

But Kalla said the anti-corruption day should not be celebrated only but also be observed by implementing and enforcing the law.

"Anti-corruption movements should not stop at the anti-corruption day observance only but they should really arrive at the implementation of corruption eradication," he said.

Earlier, President Yudhoyono called on those willing to observe the anti-corruption day through rallies to maintain peace and public order.

The head of state expressed his desire that the World Anti-Corruption Day would be used to build a new pillar, namely a clean government and transparent and accountable implementation of administration as well as the creation of a cleaner life from all forms of corruption.
