TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The government will open two international trade promotion centers (ITPC) in Milan, Italy, and Shanghai, China, this year. It is expected that the ITPC will increase the volume of trade between the countries.

“As for Shanghai, we are awaiting a decision and we are still awaiting the decision of the Milan local government,” said Secretary of theNational Export Development Agency Hesti Indah Kresnarini yesterday (03/08).

She stated that last year, two ITPCs have been opened in Hamburg, Germany, and Sydney, Australia, so as to ease penetrating the market for Indonesian exported products. In addition, she said, the promotion program was carried out through a partnership with modern retail (in-store promotion) in various countries.

“Not only in our common destination countries of export, but also potential countries such as Middle East countries and South Africa,” she said.

Within the in-store promotion, three modern retail stores were involved: Carrefour, DelHeiz and Harvey's Nickle. In the future, the government will try to cooperate with modern retail stores in Japan and the US.

Some products that will be included in the in-store promotion are spices, coffee, leather, batik, handcrafts and food.
