The chief of the country’s highest audit agency has reported to the antigraft body a Rp 12 billion (US$1.3 million) addition to his Rp 26 billion wealth in 2006, highlighting mostly had come from donations.

Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) chief Hadi Poernomo’s most recent report to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on his assets shows that he has collected more than Rp 38 billion in wealth as of February.

“From that amount, Rp 36 billion I got from donations… from my parents, siblings and in laws. Mostly are in the forms of immobile assets,” he told a press conference at the KPK office on Tuesday.

Hadi has come under fire recently after an NGO published a report saying that it has found indications that 97.6 percent of Hadi’s wealth came from donations.

Many have turned skeptical about the newly-elected BPK chieftain, but Hadi has since maintained that the donations were legitimate.
