President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono says his administration’s programs in the first 100 days in office will succeed only with full support from governors.
The President underlined that governors as representatives of the central government were responsible for implementing the short-term programs, Antara reported.
“As part of our agenda of the year, we have selected 65 programs, 15 top the priority list, to be achieved within the first 100 days of the new administration. There are 45 programs that need a synergy among sectors and regions,” Yudhoyono said at the opening of the national meeting of the Association of All-Indonesia Provincial Governments in the Central Kalimantan capital of Palangkaraya on Thursday.
The top priority programs include eradication of court mafia, revitalization of defense industry, prevention of acts of terror, acceleration of power plants development, and improvement of food security and investment climate.
Unlike in the past, incumbent governors come from various political parties, mostly the Golkar Party and the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P). Only a few governors are from Yudhoyono’s Democratic Party.
The governors’ meeting will conclude Friday.
