TEMPO Interactive, Bandung:The State-owned bank notes printing company (Perum Peruri) executive-director Junino Jahja said his office will print Rp2.000 bank notes next year, in line with Bank Indonesia plans to issue the bank notes in 2009.
According to Junino, Bank Indonesia initially planned to issue the Rp2.000 bank notes in September 2008. However, the plan was cancelled and delayed until next year. "We are still waiting for Bank Indonesia's decision on when to print the bank notes, including the design and everything," he said in Bandung yesterday. Bank Indonesia will not mint Rp1.000 coins. "Rp1.000 notes will only be printed on paper," he said.
Junino said bank notes printed by Peruri are impossible to be forged perfectly as they are equipped with 22 security elements. This is more than that of the dollar or euro, which have 13 security elements.
