TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: Finance Ministry reported on Friday that over 500 officials in the ministry have been sanctioned since the begining of the year in a programme launched early last year to to create good and clean governance in the institution.
In a release published by the ministry on Friday 510 officials at the ministry have been sanctioned since January up to December this year, 39 of whom were dismissed for disciplinary violations.
The ministry did not provide details on the violations.
The move was launched by Minister Sri Mulyani late in 2006 to ward off criticism on her policy of raising pay for the ministry's officials claimed as a strategy to reduce corruption.
