Executives of private companies to be appointed as commissioners for state enterprises

The Jakarta Post

JAKARTA (JP): Government will appoint executives of private companies to become commissioners for a number of state enterprises, a minister says.

State Minister for State Enterprises Sofyan Djalil said Tuesday that the appointments of private executives is part of the effort to boost state enterprises because there would be exchange views between new and old commissioners.

He said that an executive of private company would be immediately appointed to become a commissioner at state oil and gas company PT Pertamina.

He did not come into detail about the figure to be appointed.

"There are many state enterprises, which have not developed well. Technically, our human resources are good but their managerial skills do not develop well," he was quoted as saying, but he denied that he would appoint foreigners to become state enterprises commissioners.
