IFC to lend $50 mln to Indonesia`s PGN

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - World Bank unit International Finance Corporation is considering lending 50 mln usd to Indonesian state gas distributor PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN), National Development Planning minister Paskah Suzetta said.

"They (IFC) are interested in supporting the consolidation of our banking system. They are also negotiating with PGN to provide a 50 mln usd loan. It shows that confidence from the international financial institution in our economic prospects has improved," Suzetta was quoted by XFN Asia as telling reporters.

PGN public relations head Agus Dihardjo confirmed that PGN is currently negotiating the terms and condition of the loan.

Separately, IFC has said that it may double its investment in Indonesia to 1 bln usd in fiscal year to June 2008. For the current fiscal year to June, IFC loans to the country are estimated to reach 500 mln.
