JAKARTA (Antara): Dutch Ambassador to Indonesia Nikolaos van Dam will visit West Sumatra on Wednesday to see condition of the areas which were devastated by earthquake last week.
The Dutch envoy during the visit would also present assistance to the earthquake's victims, information from the Dutch embassy said Tuesday.
The Dutch Government has provided relief aid amounting to 1.5 million Euros or equivalent to Rp 18.1 billion for the disaster victims.
The emergency assistance was handed over through the Indonesian Red Cross and the International Organization for Migration (IOM). The aid consisted of among other things medicines, medical equipment and logistics for hundreds of earthquake victims.
On March 6, a 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck about 50 kilometers from Padang, the capital of West Sumatra province.
According to news reports, tens of people died in the disaster and thousands were displaced.
