Kupang, East Nusatenggara, 13-December-2006 (ANTARA News) - A big Japanese investor, PT Kyoko Ltd, wants to increase its investment in the marine and fishery sector in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) province, a local official said.
"We have established coordination with the Kyoko Ltd management in Japan and they showed a keen interest in increasing investment in East Nusa Tenggara," NTT investment coordinating agency head Stanis Tefa said here Tuesday.Tefa and the heads of other regional investment coordinating agencies accompanied national investment coordinating agency (BKPM) chairman Muhammad Lutfi during President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono`s visit to Japan from November 26 to 28.
During the visit, the head of state held talks with Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Aso; Economy, Trade and Industry Minister Akira Mari; Finance Minister Koji Omi; as well as officials of the Japanese chamber of trade Keidanren.
Regional investment coordinating body heads made use the visit to invite Japanese businessmen to make investment in Indonesia, Tefa said.
Kyoko Ltd has two subsidiaries operating in NTT namely PT Asam Mutiara and PT Budidaya Mutiara which have carried business in the province for the past three years.
Kyoko Ltd and its two subsidiaries are parts of 30 foreign investment firms including those from Australia, Brazil, Britain, China, Malaysia, France, Singapore, Spain, the Netherlands, and the US which are actively operating in NTT.
